We all love pets. They are usually adorable creatures and more importantly we consider them as part of us – part of family. Pets can be full of fun and in most cases, they also helps us relieve stress. Most pets can be loyal and at times supportive to us emotionally – they are simply there for us. Therefore there is the need for us to understand the relationships between human and pets in order for us to know how to cater for their needs.
Understanding pets is a very elusive
Sometimes they can be mischievous and out of control. There is the need for you to understand your pet and her behavior. What could be the reason as to why your pet is acting weird? New pets are more prone to act in a manner which may irritate you, but entire they look up to you to train if you need them to do what you consider right.
Formerly this website used to be a web portal veterinary website based in the UK which brought together vets, pet owners, pet & vet related businesses and pet welfare groups and other interested institution under one roof online to benefits from various pets related issues – diseases, behaviors, breeds, care of pets, housing etc.
The website had a pet clinic to cater for any abnormalities in pets, there was a pet store where pet lovers could purchase pets online, there was a directory for vets all over UK who had created an account on the site and there was also a listing for the various professional pet and vet related business based in UK. There was also a section whereby lost and found pets were also listed.
The domain was left to expire some years back, but I have decided to bring the website back into life. As a pet lover, I know the importance of having the quality information which could help you serve you pet right. There are various interesting topics about pets that I’ve published below and you can access them by clicking through various links below.
The Need to Understand the Behavior of Pets
I’m a pet lover and sometimes in spring of 2013, I acquired a new pet. At that time, I had donated my older pet to a local animal rescue group because she was sick and needed more care. After I got my weight loss surgery and was home for a couple weeks, I felt lonely without her and hence the need to acquire a new pet. That is how I ended buying a young puppy whom I named snow. We were happy together and I was trying to teach her how to become ‘responsible’ especially since I knew that it won’t be long before I resume official duties. She was quick to learn, and I felt proud off her.
The first day that I left her for work, and to the gym for half an hour so I can keep my weight loss motivation, I felt the guilt that I would be leaving her the whole day. I ensured that I had prepared everything that she would need during the day, and I strategically placed the various items at her usual place. Everything was fine by the time that I arrived in the evening. However, it was clear that she was bored to death. It was clear that she wasn’t used to being left unattended for long hours.
Everything went well for three days, and, well, on the third day, I came home to meet the house in full mess. She had littered on the floor, the kitchen was a total disaster with utensils littered on the floor – some broken. Simply everything was out of control. To make matter worse, it occurred to me that she hadn’t eaten her food. I couldn’t discern what was wrong. I felt angry at the mess which I had to clean despite the fact that I was exhausted from the busy day at work.
Proper Pet Training can help a Pet to Become Responsible
She had this innocent look on her face the whole time as I tried to estimate the mess that she had created. She followed me from one room to another oblivious of the facts that I was angry at her. I felt that this was not her home. I didn’t know what I could do if I was to come home the following day to meet such a mess. I simply didn’t know what to do.
I wanted to sell him back at the same pet store that I had bought him, but when I called an old friend, (who just beat breast cancer by the way!), she advised me to speak to the owner of the pet store and try to understand the behavior of my pet. I called the pet store and explained to them my situation. They sympathized with me and suggested some better ways of taking care of him while I was busy at work. None was applicable at the moment because I wasn’t ready to miss work so that I could train my pet to behave.
The following day, I decided to leave Snow with my neighbor who was available at home most of the times. She too had a puppy and when I came in the evening I realized that they were binding well. On the weekend, my neighbor helped me to shop for a good indoor kennel which was big enough for a bed, some toys and bowls and throughout the weekend, I spend training Snow what to do. I could see that she was learning a little bit.
I left her again for the first day, and everything was normal. However, when I did so the next day, I came home to find it a mess. I felt fed up and eventually, I decided to sell her back to the pet store. However, during summer when I had some time off work, I decided to buy another puppy. This time around, I took into researching of the best ways to train and understand pets. Fortunately every aspect that I learned worked for the new pet. She is responsible when I’m not around and when she happens to do something that I don’t like, I usually try to understand her and find better ways of training her not to repeat the mistake.
