Hill’s Prescription Diet Canine r/d has been reformulated after trials resulted in some impressive results with individual overweight animals losing at least 22% of their body fat in 8 weeks while still maintaining muscle mass. The new recipe relies on breakthrough fibre technology and new findings regarding the role of protein in weight loss.
The diet contains a blend of soluble and insoluble fibres to increase digestibility, while also keeping total dietary fibre high. This ensures energy intake remains low while the appetite is still satisfied. Protein levels have been optimised to increase satiety through stimulation of cholecystokinin secretion. Independent of the protein intake high levels of lysine help maintain lean muscle mass and L-carnitine stimulates the conversion of fat into energy. Incorporating all the latest science into the new formulation ensures that Hill’s r/d now provides one of the best all round solutions to weight loss.
Says Libby Sheridan, Veterinary Affairs Manager at Hill’s, “With new Canine r/d, it’s even easier to reach healthy weight loss targets of 1-2% body weight per week. Knowing that weight loss targets can be achieved in as little as 8 weeks is tremendously motivating for the pet owner and makes the job of supporting them through the process that much simpler.”
Hill’s Prescription Diet Canine r/d will be available in 1.5Kg, 4Kg and 12Kg bags. The recipe of the current 350g can remains unchanged
